What is the best antenna for FT817 BNC type rubber which is flex? No matter the size?
First let me say that I am programmed for my license 17NOV08 technology. Now I do a lot of camping and hiking around the imbalances even in Delaware (PA / NJ RT80) and I did not received no radio, since I know little or nothing, but I know that I want and VX7R FT817. See I must be able to bring things to my digital SLR, food, tent, etc., and of course a radio. The question is: I do not plan to HF (I think its contacts remote time) or CW (Morse Code) I just want talk may be locally simplex (radio to radio) or the use of transponders (large antenna). Is there a standard channel (Freq) that can go anywhere (what state) I want the CB = 19 = 9 truckers emergency? Should I upgrade my FT817 BNC antenna or is it? PS: Sorry to look like a fool in this, but things in brackets is what I understand, I thought someone correct me if wrong.
If I were you, I only make the VX7R if you do not plan to use HF. It is smaller and does not have the problems of the antenna. It is probably a kind of "all-band antenna" for the ft817 but will remain a large antenna and possibly a tuner and antenna the battery also (much equipment to carry). What you need to get the ARRL repeater directory. Repeaters are all freqs for your region. It is not really CH19 for the ham bands. Just check in at the local repeaters. The conclusion is that you can have a blast with the radio single hand four bands.
